• Salone del Mobile as an important international meeting point
• 30th anniversary of the partnership with Philippe Starck
• New cooperation with architect and designer Antonio Citterio
Once again, the leading international trade fair for the design industry in Milan showcased the latest fascinating trends and innovations in the field of furniture design and interior design. Leading designers, manufacturers, and creatives from around the world converged on the Italian city from 16 to 21 April 2024. Duravit, the designer bathroom manufacturer from the Black Forest, presented its latest innovations and creations and welcomed international guests to its booth.
“For us as a design brand, the Salone del Mobile offers the perfect setting for presenting our brilliant innovations and Artisan concept to architects and designers, project developers, and trade partners. With our international team we’ve been able to provide a tailored response to individual requirements and engage in some very constructive discussions. That’s why the Salone del Mobile is an important international platform where Duravit can acquire new customers and expand existing relationships,” said Jutta Langer, President Europe Plus at Duravit, in summary.
Grounds for celebration: The Starck barrel
A particular highlight this year was the anniversary of the invaluable and successful collaboration with designer Philippe Starck. Gilda Bojardi, chief editor of the renowned INTERNI magazine, and Duravit CEO Stephan Tahy paid tribute to the designer’s work. Gilda Bojardi emphasized the revolutionary approach of Philippe Starck, whose creations have had a significant influence on the evolution of the bathroom from a wet cell to a comfortably appointed feel-good space. In his speech, Stephan Tahy highlighted in particular the close and innovative partnership with Philippe Starck, whose designs have been influencing the Duravit product portfolio for 30 years.
The celebrations included a Starck barrel in sunny yellow signed by Philippe Starck. This unique piece was sold to the highest bidder in a silent auction for a good cause.
New design partnership with Antonio Citterio: Aurena bathroom range
Antonio Citterio designed the Aurena bathroom range for Duravit. The choice of the Golden Ratio as a source of inspiration is a nod to Citterio’s background as an architect, a discipline in which the classical formula is the very embodiment of aesthetic harmony. The result: perfectly balanced proportions that not only create order, but also have aesthetic appeal in a textbook example of timeless elegance. Antonio Citterio clearly expressed his ideas about bathroom design: “The bathroom has become a personal space that conveys satisfaction. Here it’s no longer about pure function, but rather the aesthetic contrast.”
